Minnesota State Capitol

Minnesota State Capitol

Completed in 1905, the Minnesota State Capitol is the third state capitol located in downtown Saint Paul. The building’s design, by architect Cass Gilbert, was influenced by the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago and by the Rhode Island State House. The capitol dome is the second-largest self-supported marble dome in the world, behind Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
